Tasha’s story is one of incredible dedication, persistence, and transformation. Having struggled with yo-yo dieting for years, she finally found the approach that worked for her, leading to an astonishing weight loss of over 70kg (11 stone). This is her journey in her own words—from the steps she took to the obstacles she overcame, and her goals moving forward.
The Start of the Journey: "I Hated How I Looked"
"I had yo-yo'd several times in my life, but I never stayed slim. I would binge and put it all back on," Tasha recalls. Like many people who have struggled with weight loss, Tasha faced repeated cycles of losing and gaining weight. But everything changed in July 2023.
“I hated how I looked and how big I was, and with my wedding coming up in July 2024, I knew it was time to take control,” she says. “I didn’t think I would lose as much as I did in that timeframe—I was hoping to get down to 13.5 stone, but I ended up getting down to 9st 8lbs!”
The Steps Tasha Took
Tasha’s approach was simple yet incredibly effective. Her plan revolved around creating a calorie deficit, eating her largest meal in the morning, and hitting the gym almost daily.
“I didn’t cut any food groups out,” Tasha explains. “I kept a relatively high-protein, high-carbohydrate diet and started with 1300 calories a day.” Her meals consisted mainly of MyProtein ready meals, along with Skyr Icelandic yoghurt and granola.
While her diet remained structured, her workouts played a big role in her success.
Tasha’s routine involved:
10 minutes on the treadmill: starting with walking and eventually building up to running.
10 minutes on the multi-gym: focusing on strength exercises.
30 minutes of a mix of free weights and cardio type exercises (lots of dancing literally!)
Overcoming the Obstacles
Like any significant journey, Tasha’s transformation wasn’t without its challenges. She admits that she missed her old comfort foods—those familiar “big hug” meals like takeaways, sweets, and snacks she used to enjoy.
“I was very much a comfort eater, and I really looked forward to sitting down with a massive plate of food every evening,” she says. “There were times when I felt quite sad, like I was missing an old friend.”
However, Tasha’s ability to fully commit and push through the emotional struggles was key to her success. “I’m lucky in that I’m an all-or-nothing person. I changed my lifestyle completely, and it became routine. I really enjoyed it, especially as I could see myself getting closer and closer to my goal every month."
The Fear of Maintenance and the Role of Metabolic Testing
After hitting her goal weight, Tasha’s biggest fear was regaining the weight she had worked so hard to lose. Like many who have achieved significant weight loss, she was unsure how to maintain her progress.
“The scariest part for me was maintaining. I was terrified of regaining the weight I’d lost,” she shares. This is where metabolic testing became a game-changer.
Tasha decided to take a Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) test to understand her calorie needs better. “The first RMR test helped me figure out how to maintain my new weight and even add more food to my day. It was a blessing, and it really helped me mentally to transition into maintenance,” she says.
Tasha decided to take a Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) test to better understand her calorie needs. “The first RMR test helped me figure out how to maintain my new weight and even add more food to my day. It was a blessing, and it really helped me mentally to transition into maintenance,” she says.
Tasha’s second RMR test came after her surgery to ensure she was consuming the right amount of calories while being inactive. “I’m happy to say I didn’t gain a single pound!” she adds proudly. At this point, we also measured her calorie burn during activity during a VO2Max Test to get a more complete understanding of her needs. We made sure she was eating enough protein to support her body composition goals.
Using the InBody Body Composition Analysis, we discovered that her body fat levels were getting too low. With this information, we adjusted her diet to bring her body fat into a healthier range, making sure her nutritional needs were met in a way that aligned with her overall goals.
Beyond adjusting her diet, we also worked together to optimise her training and meal structure to further enhance her body composition and improve her strength and fitness. These changes not only supported her body composition goals but also set her up for long-term health and sustainable fitness. By focusing on strength and overall fitness, we shifted the focus from just weight loss to building a strong, healthy, and resilient body for the future.
What’s Next for Tasha? Building Strength and Muscle
Tasha’s journey isn’t over yet. Now that she has hit her weight loss goal, her focus is shifting to building muscle and getting stronger.
“My goals moving forward are to build muscle and become more athletic,” she says. “I’m also in the process of having my loose skin removed, and once that’s done, I’m really excited to work on building my arm muscles and maybe even getting some abs!”
Ultimately, Tasha’s goal is to be fit, healthy, and maintain a positive relationship with food—a far cry from her days of binge eating and yo-yo dieting.
Tasha’s Key Takeaways for Success

Commitment is Key: Tasha’s ability to fully commit to her routine and not waver was crucial to her success.
Enjoy the Process: Finding joy in the process, not just the results, helped her stay motivated.
Use Tools Like RMR Testing: Understanding your metabolism can make a big difference in maintaining weight loss and avoiding regain.
Be Patient and Play the Long Game: Tasha didn’t expect to lose as much weight as she did, but by focusing on small, sustainable changes, she surpassed her goals.
